The Piano and Its Perspectives is a program of the School of Music, Digital Department and Cultural Office of the Federal University of Goiás, Mississippi State University and Universidad del Atlántico - Colombia, with support from the Foundation for Science and Technology of Portugal, Center for Studies in Sociology and Musical Aesthetics of the New University of Lisbon, Center for Brazilian Studies, Rádio Universitária and Rádio Brasil Central FM. Andréa Luísa Teixeira (coordination), Pablo Lisboa, Roângela Yazbec Sebba and Yamira Rodriguez Núñez  are part of the program's team. The proposal is to bring to all those interested issues related to the importance of music and its role in society.

Our guest is our alumna Sarah Jenkins, MM, NCTM, serves as a faculty member at Southern University and Agricultural & Mechanical College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she teaches Group Piano courses and regularly collaborates with students and other faculty members in recitals. Sarah received her Bachelor of Arts in Music from Mississippi State University under Steinway Artist Dr. Rosângela Sebba where she received multiple awards and performed as a soloist with the Starkville Symphony Orchestra. She received a Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy from LSU under Dr. Pamela Pike, Dr. Willis Delony, and Professor Gregory Sioles. While at LSU, she presented research at MTNA's 2019 Conference and was the two-time winner of LTMA's Collegiate Poster Session Competition. Sarah’s articles on works by female composers and effective group teaching practices have been published in the American Music Teacher e-Journal and Piano Magazine.

In addition to being a faculty member at Southern University, Sarah is a member of The Society of Pi Kappa Lambda, the Manager of Advertising for Piano Magazine, NCKP 2023: The Piano Conference, and The Frances Clark Center for Keyboard Pedagogy, the choir director and pianist at Lutheran Church of Our Savior and St. Paul Lutheran Church, and the owner of a private piano studio. As an active member of the local music community, she is a regular judge for festivals and adjudications, and she serves as the Sponsorship Chair for the Louisiana Music Teachers Association.
