Dr. Bob joined Ricky Burkhead, professor of percussion at Ole Miss, for “An Evening of World Music and Drumming.”  The concert was held on March 23 at the Nutt Auditorium in Oxford.  Dr. Bob and Mr. Burkead have performed together as a world drumming duo since 2009.  They have presented recitals in Tupelo, Oxford, Blue Mountain, Columbus, Starkville, and Jackson.  For their latest recital, they played four duets including “You’re Makin’ Me Dizzy” and “Rumba Clave” for conga drums, “Desert Celebration” for jembes, and “March for Two Pairs of Kettledrums.”   Dr. Bob joined Mr. Burkhead, Amy Fisher (bass) and Mark Yacovone (piano) to also play their arrangements of “Son of a Son of a Sailor” by Jimmy Buffet, “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley, and “Riders on the Storm” by The Doors.
