Dr. Sobaskie to lecture at British universities

Mississippi State University music professor James William Sobaskie has been invited to speak at the University of Oxford on March 6, 2018, within its Faculty of Music’s Research Colloquium series.  The title of his Oxford presentation will be “Advocative Musicology et l'œuvre de Gabriel Fauré.”

Dr. Sobaskie also has been invited to speak at Durham University on March 13, 2018, within its Centre for Nineteenth Century Studies.  The title of his Durham presentation will be “Unprecedented synergy: the influence of Symbolist poetry, artistic milieu, and Parisian socioeconomics on the mélodies of Gabriel Fauré”.

These occasions represent Dr. Sobaskie’s fifth lecture at Oxford and his third at Durham.

Dr. Sobaskie’s lectures are enabled by the kind support of Mississippi State University, its College of Education, and its Department of Music.
