Saturday, June 4, 2016

James Sobaskie co-guest-edited the latest issue of Nineteenth-Century Music Review.  Titled Schubert Familiar and Unfamiliar: Continuing Conversations, the June 2016 publication is a sequel to the journal’s Schubert-themed volume from December 2008.  Dr. Sobaskie’s article, “Conversations Within and Between Two Early Lieder of Schubert,” originated as a presentation to the Royal Music Association in September of 2014 and was given with the support of Mississippi State University’s Office of Research and Development, the Dean’s Office of its College of Education, and its Department of Music.  Following his article is an invited commentary, “Response to James Sobaskie,” by Susan Youens.  Dr. Sobaskie also contributed a review of the three-volume encyclopedia, Franz Schubert: The Complete Songs, and co-wrote the special issue’s Introduction.  For more, visit the issue’s table of contents.
