Drs. Roza Tulyaganova and Jeanette Fontaine, on behalf of the MSU Opera Workshop, were awarded $5,000 in Criss Trust funds to put on a production of Puccini’s Suor Angelica in Spring 2019.  Suor Angelica tells the story of Sister Angelica, a young woman who has become a nun at the insistence of her family.  She suffers a crisis of faith due to many personal tragedies, but ultimately finds redemption and forgiveness.  The opera features an all-female cast and will be performed with chamber orchestra in English.  Dr. Tulyaganova is the artistic director and Dr. Fontaine is the musical director of the MSU Opera Workshop.”
