The Starkville-MSU Symphony Association’s 2016-17 is celebrating its 48th performance season, the association has scheduled concerts during the school year, all in the Bettersworth Auditorium of MSU’s historic Lee Hall.
January 20th, 2017 at 7:30 pm - Strings Across the Sea the concert will present string students from Japan and Mozart's Concert no. 20 in D Minor, K. 466, Dr. Barry Kopetz as conductor and Dr. Rosangela Sebba as soloist.
Founded March 2, 1969 in the home of Starkville residents David and Barbara Cornell, the symphony association is a non-profit volunteer organization whose members work to educate, enlighten and share classical music with the city, university campus and other communities in the Golden Triangle region. Producing high-quality musical events and increasing awareness for the arts are its primary missions.
In addition to Mississippi State, major SSA contributors include the J.W. Criss Foundation, Mississippi Arts Commission, National Endowment for the Arts, Renasant Bank, City of Starkville, Starkville Convention and Visitors Bureau, along with Columbus’ Gildea Foundation.
