Trinity Presbyterian Church Family Fun Drum Circle

Wednesday, June 15, 2016

Dr. Bob led a drum circle on June 12 for Family Fun Night at Trinity Presbyterian Church.  The event included a potluck supper at 5:30 followed by a drum circle from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.  The drum circle hosted by Joe Ray and Nancy Underwood was open to the Starkville community at large.  The theme for the evening was unity and community.  Participants were led by Joe Ray in the singing of songs such as “Sanctuary” and “Kumbaya.”  The drum circle is a music-making event where people sit in a circle while playing world percussion instruments.  Music is created in the moment and everyone is part of the experience.  People have drum circles for fun, musical expression, and to celebrate unity and community.  Photos by Luanne Caldwell Blankenship.
