The MSU Music Department’s Master of Music Education program includes a World Drumming class.  This course, taught by Professor Robert Damm, is an introduction to drum techniques, rhythms, and performance practices of selected world drumming traditions.  Students in the 2018 program played West African jembes, Middle Eastern hand drums, Peruvian cajones, Japanese taiko, steel pans of Trinidad, Afro-Cuban congas, the Native American pow-wow drum, and a variety of Brazilian hand percussion instruments.
