Dr. Olivia Boatman is the Lecturer of Flute at Mississippi State University, Instructor of Flute at Belhaven University in Jackson, MS and Grambling State University in Grambling, LA.  In addition, she teaches a growing private woodwind studio in Clinton, MS.  Olivia holds a K-12 Mississippi Instrumental Educator License and enjoys serving area high schools through private lessons, master classes, and adjudication.  She is a member of the Mississippi Wind Symphony, Starkville Symphony Orchestra, and Mississippi Baptist Symphony Orchestra.  She is currently serving on the Flute Clubs Committee for the National Flute Association. 

Previously she served as the Woodwind Instructor and Assistant Band Director at Hinds Community College in Raymond, MS and Adjunct Flute Instructor at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, KS.  She has performed and presented at numerous conventions and festivals including the National Flute Association, Florida Flute Association, Wisconsin Flute Festival, Central Iowa Flute Workshop, Music by Women Festival, and local and state band clinics. 

Olivia holds a Doctor of Music from Florida State University, a Master of Music from Arkansas State University, and a Bachelor of Music Education from Mississippi State University.  Additionally, she has specialized study certificates from Florida State University in Music Education and Leadership as well as College Teaching.   In addition to teaching, she is the Sales Consultant for Flute Authority, the North American distributor of Miyazawa, Sankyo, Trevor James, Hamming, and Song.
