Starkville-MSU Symphony Orchestra - Violins of Hope

$
In Violins of Hope, experience a powerful evening of remembrance and reflection honoring the lives, stories and enduring spirit of those affected by the Holocaust. Through a compelling collection of chamber music, narration and historical imagery, this program illuminates voices silenced by tragedy and celebrates the resilience of the human soul. The evening features one of the Violins of Hope instruments, a poignant tribute to all restored instruments once played in ghettos and camps, followed by Memory and Violets, an original readers theatre piece inspired by survivor testimony. The program continues with stirring works by composers whose lives were touched or lost in the Holocaust, including Ilse Weber, Hans Krása and Allan Blank, as well as those who continue to bear witness through music—Lori Laitman, Osvaldo Golijov, and Stephen DeCesare.
A special thank you to The McMullan/ O'Connor Fund for its generous sponsorship of this program.
