This recital will feature an eclectic mix of works for solo cello and cello and piano, evoking reverence, devotion and hope. Works by Bach, Bruch, Bloch, and Rachmaninov will contrast with Caroline Shaw's take on a Renaissance hymn tune and Reena Esmail's interlude to Seven Last Words, incorporating Indian ragas to bring on cleansing rain, countering despair, like a prayer to find a new path forward. Cellist Dr. Amy Catron will be joined by MSU piano faculty, Drs. Sebba, Wang, and Ms. Ragsdale.
