Dr. Bob visited Aiken Village Preschool on November 12th to share music activities with the children. Dr. Bob read several stories to the children through which songs, drumming, and movement were integrated. The children played shakers, rhythm sticks, and drums. Dr. Bob’s program was part of an extended unit on music currently being provided for the children.Located on the campus of Mississippi State University, Aiken Village Preschool is an early childhood program for children ages 3 to 5 years operated by the MSU Early Childhood Institute. Aiken Village Preschool offers a child-oriented curriculum through play-based early learning experiences. The play environment provides many opportunities for exploring, experimenting, problem-solving, communicating, and cooperating. Research has shown that young children who are supported in their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development have lasting social and academic success in kindergarten and beyond. Dr. Bob’s visit was arranged by Georgia Graham who is the lead teacher and assistant director at Aiken Village Preschool.
